Governance
Governance & impartiality
The value of a seal depends on who decides and how. IDA separates sales, auditing and decisions — and publishes how it does it.
Separation of functions
IDA Board
Approves budget and strategy. Cannot change findings or grant commercial exceptions to the standard.
Standard Committee
Dentistry, safety, privacy and the patient voice. Maintains criteria, local annexes and public consultation.
Operations & auditors
Verify sources and evidence, declare conflicts and document every finding.
Certification Committee
Decides granting, scope, suspension and revocation. Reviewer is not the auditor and earns no commission.
Appeals Panel
Members unrelated to the audit and the contested decision. Issues a reasoned resolution.
Commercial & services
Manages contracts, fees and benefits. No access to clinical records, no say on conformity.
Rules that protect the seal
- Decision committee of three with a quorum of two, at least one clinician; revocations need all three.
- An auditor never evaluates an entity they consulted for in the previous 24 months.
- IDA publishes its impartiality policy and an annual aggregated report of decisions and complaints.
- Paying invoices never activates a credential; unpaid membership never erases a valid technical result.
Public states
- Active
- Granted, valid and not suspended. The seal shows scope and links to the registry.
- Suspended
- Use of the seal is paused. The record shows the date and a neutral reason category.
- Expired
- Validity ended without an approved renewal. Applied automatically at the exact time.
- Revoked
- Withdrawn by the committee for cause. History is kept and the seal is invalidated.
- Withdrawn
- The holder renounced or closed the service. The end of scope remains verifiable.
